The story of The White Schooner was inspired by an international incident of recent times; a classical example of retribution, meticulously planned, relentlessly executed.

The action takes place in Ibiza, Spain's glamorous Mediterranean island. Here Charles Black is known as a free-lance art critic, ne'er do=well, remittance man and bar-fly. But Black has other business on the island, and this brings him into close contact with a group who are suspected of large-scale trafficking in drugs. Among them is Manuela, dark-eyed, fragile and beautiful, an artist from Puerto Rico. Black is one of the men in whom Manuela arouses passions and jealousies, but she appears to be attached to - or owned by - a Greek business man whose background is as dubious as his methods are ruthless.

In the harbour lies the white schooner, the SNOWGOOSE, with unusually powerful auxiliary engines, ultra-high frequency radio and strangely assorted crew. She is in Ibiza for a purpose, a mysterious element in the conspiracy that is secretly unfolding  on the island.

The story moves to a tremendous climax when at last the trap is sprung. Thereafter some carefully laid plans go awry, and the final drama explodes on the high seas.

From his bestsellers Two Hours to Darkness, Smoke Island, and The Sea Break, Anthony Trew is known as a master story-teller. He is at the top of his form in the very original adventure story called The White Schooner.
