It isn't easy to be a dancer, even an ordinary member of a corps de ballet, let alone the principal dancer of a ballet company. This is Annette Dancy's ambition, and even after she gets her foot on the bottom rung of the ladder of success, she still has many obstacles to surmount.

Some dancers always seem to be luckier than others and just happen to be on the spot at the right time. But nothing is achieved by luck alone and single-mindedness plays a large part in a dancer's luck. So it was with Annette when she stepped into the chief role of the new ballet, La Sylphide.
